Making an iced cappuccino is an easy task that can save money and make the hostess the belle of the ball and the envy of her friends. Included here are two iced cappuccino recipes, one requires an espresso machine and one does not.

Starters

The difference between a good iced cappuccino and a great iced cappuccino lies in the espresso shot. Use quality coffee beans ground specifically for espresso to insure that the espresso pull is the best it can be.

The espresso shot should be a double shot, usually three ounces. The crema should be a nice, thick, golden brown. Add five or six ice cubes to the espresso. Stir to bring the temperature down quickly. Strain the espresso into a serving glass. Save the ice cubes for use later.

Add three to four ounces of ice cold milk to the serving glass on top of the espresso. Add the reserved ice if desired. Use the steaming wand on the cappuccino machine to froth three or four ounces of skim milk to use as the top layer of the iced cappuccino.

Once there is a nice, frothy layer on the milk, turn the wand off and use a spoon to pull only the foam off the top of the steamed milk. Layer this on the top of the mixture in the serving glass. Serve immediately.

For variations on this recipe flavorings can be added before adding the froth to the serving glass. Vanilla, caramel and chocolate all make tasty iced cappuccinos.

Iced Cappuccinos Without an Espresso Machine

Not having an espresso machine handy doesn’t mean not having an iced cappuccino. A nice, frothy iced cappuccino can be made using instant coffee and heavy cream or cold coffee and milk. A great idea when traveling or when the home budget doesn’t allow for an espresso machine.

Instant Iced Cappuccino 1

Ingredients

1 tsp. Instant coffee
4 tbs. Heavy cream
1 tsp. Vanilla
4 or 5 Ice cubes
¾ Cup Water
2 tsp. Sugar
Flavoring as desired

Add the instant coffee to the water and mix until blended well. Using a blender put the instant coffee mixture and the remaining ingredients in and blend well. The resulting product should be a smooth, frothy iced cappuccino. If the drink is thicker than desired, add more water and blend. Coffee measurement and flavoring can be adjusted as desired.

Iced Cappuccino from Cold Coffee

Iced cappuccino can be made from coffee that has been brewed and allowed to cool. In order for this to mimic cappuccino the coffee should be brewed stronger than normal.

Ingredients

1 cup very strong coffee, allowed to cool
1 cup cold milk
1 cup ice cubes
Sugar and flavorings as desired

Put all ingredients into a blend and mix until desired consistency. Serve immediately. Whip cream may be added if desired.

Strong Coffee or Espresso
Iced cappuccino does not require the use of an espresso machine. Although it does make a better espresso, for iced cappuccino purposes it is not an absolute necessity. A strong brewed coffee can make a nice iced cappuccino when in a pinch.
