Cappuccino Recipes: Amaretto Fudge Cappuccino
By Sirena Van Schaik
When it comes to any coffee drink, I tend to err on the side of fresh brewed. I mean, how can you call it coffee when you use an instant coffee and for that matter, how can you say it tastes good?
As you can tell, I am a bit of a coffee snob. I’m not as bad as some coffee lovers but I do expect a little bit of luxury in my coffee bean. I mean, if I am going to drink something that is affectionately referred to as “something that puts hair on your chest,” if might as well taste the best it can.
Since I am a bit of a snob (who thankfully has never had hair put on her chest), I was a bit surprised at how wonderful this recipe is. It uses instant coffee but it has so much flavor to it that you can easily forget that the coffee wasn’t brewed. It is very easy to make and can be done in less time than it takes you to brew a fresh pot of coffee.
What you need:
- Whipping Cream (this is optional and you can use a lot or a little)
- 1 Dark Chocolate Square
- 1 cup of water
- 1 tbsp of chocolate syrup
- 2 tbsp of amaretto flavored cream (you can use powdered or flavored cream)
- 1 tbsp of instant coffee
Directions:
- Bring water to boiling using a kettle, pour into a decorative cup.
- Add the instant coffee to the water and stir until the granules are completely dissolved.
- Add the cream and stir it until it is well blended.
- Slowly fold the chocolate syrup into the coffee as well and make sure that it is mixed throughout the coffee.
- Top with the whipped cream.
- Grate the chocolate square and sprinkle the shavings on the top of the whipped cream.
- Serve hot.
This is an excellent drink to take the chill off on a cold winter day and it tastes much better than a hot chocolate.
