Cappuccino Machines – a few points about buying your own machine

By Sirena Van Schaik

You know, every year around this time, people rush out to the store to find the perfect gift for a person on their list. They scramble for the latest and greatest in electronics or they scour the malls looking for that perfect something that doesn’t seem to exist. Shopping for anyone, including oneself, can be a pretty daunting task, especially if one does not know what to look for.

The same can be said about purchasing a cappuccino machine. You might be looking for a cappuccino machine for yourself or you might be looking for one for a friend or relative. Whatever the reason, there are a few points to purchasing a cappuccino machine that you should be aware of before you head out to the store. Trust me, being prepared will ensure that you get the best machine for your buck.

The Money Factor:Speaking of bucks, the very first thing that we are going to look at is the amount of money that you want to spend on your cappuccino machine. If you are not aware of it, cappuccino machines can run upwards of $400 and beyond but you will notice the difference in quality with those machines.

However, before you dip into your bank account, think about the type of return you are going to get out of that machine. Are you going to be using it on a daily basis or once or twice a week or even month? If you answered daily, then by all means, purchase that better machine because it will pay for itself in good cappuccino every day. If you answered that you would only use it occasionally, then it is perfectly acceptable to purchase a machine in the eighty or one hundred dollar price range.

Make sure that you are firm on what you would like to spend because it is very easy to get over excited by all the little features that can be found on a machine when you get to the store.

Finding the right store:You probably feel that any store is fine when purchasing a cappuccino machine but that isn’t the case at all. If you really want to make sure you get the best model for the amount you want to spend, then I would strongly recommend going to a store that has a large kitchen section. Don’t go to a store that only offers one or two different brands since you will only end up spending more for a machine that you didn’t really like.

A store that has a larger selection will be able to offer you quality machines in the price range that you are looking for and since there are more brands, you may find a high quality machine for a lower price than at another store.

Bells and Whistles:When it comes to buying a cappuccino machine, there are always a lot of features that you can purchase, some you may need and others you don’t need at all. You can purchase a machine with a warming cup and you can also purchase machines with an easy measure feature for making the perfect cup of cappuccino each time. You can also find them with digital time displays and all these other goodies.

Bells and whistles are always nice to have but they can start to cost a lot of money by the time you are through and you don’t need many of them. What you do need is a machine with a steam wand. If the machine you are looking at doesn’t have one, then put it back on the shelf and select a different model.

Now that we have covered a few points about purchasing your own cappuccino machine, it is time to get out there and get shopping.
